I’ll be sharing a list of the best photography website templates from different website builders that you can start with. HTML templates will be on this list, too, for those who prefer to launch a portfolio on their own server.

If you’re looking for a highly customizable template but has a very easy to use interface, Photography by Zyro is your solution. Though it’s currently a single-page website, you can add pages to make a multi-page portfolio.

It has a clean, minimalist design that draws focus to the beautifully taken shots. You can keep it as is, or personalize it completely to fit your brand. Even so, the website will still look stunning on different size screens.

Due to the tons of options, the learning curve can be a bit steep and it might take a while to familiarize yourself with the interface. However, there’s the Editor Help Center and video tutorials to get you started.

What’s great is that you can set up an online store or a membership page. The possibilities of what you want to do with the template are endless.

4. Beaumont — Photography Website Template by Squarespace

The Beaumont template is suitable for multi-page photography websites. Plus, it’s quite easy to set up. If you’re a new Squarespace user, there will be an assistant wizard to help you get started.

It has a simple, clean, and minimalist design that brings a professional look to your site. The template is customizable, so you can personalize it even more to match your brand. Uploading your own logo is also possible.

There are different design options for colors, typography, call to action buttons, and more. By using this template, you can upgrade your site to an online shop as well. A cart icon can even be added to the navigation menu.

Beaumont’s other selling points are:

Cosmo is a timeless, aesthetic, multi-page photography website template. The minimalist design helps draw the focus on the content and images. Plus, the homepage displays different galleries as thumbnails for easy navigation.

The block editor and drag-and-drop feature are used to customize this template. However, it may take you some time to get used to the user interface and start moving things around. There also are content blocks for galleries, photos, video, navigation, text, and many more.

There are premade sections for text, images, media, forms, and dividers that you can use and customize. Page templates are also available for the About, Contact, Resume, Story, and Title page. Plus, your gallery can be displayed as either a slideshow, grid, or vertical layout.

You can include a blog to share and connect with your clients. Or, set up an online store to sell products and services as well.

Responsive HTML photography website templates

If you’re familiar with web development and want a challenge, then why not use an HTML template for your photography website? You will get the creative freedom to personalize it however you want.

That said, technical knowledge is required as you will have to edit the files if you want to customize the design. You can use a code or visual editor software to do so. Other than that, you will need to get a custom domain and find a web host to store and publish your site.

Those who don’t have the time and skills to go through the said process — like me — will have to hire a developer for help. Plus, it can be costly, so make sure that you have the budget.

This list below contains free and paid templates. Now without further ado, let’s get into it.

8. Juno — Site Template for Photographers

Juno is one of the best photography website templates, as it’s very comprehensive. It comes with 12 different demos that you can choose and start with. They all have clean and elegant designs, giving your portfolio a professional look.

The rich customization options give unlimited combinations of designs. What’s more, Juno is responsive and retina-ready, so your site and photos will still look stunning when accessed on different devices.

It’s other selling points are:

For photographers who want to showcase their portfolio beautifully, you might want to consider using Lydia. This template has over 30 premade HTML5 pages and various layout options. You will just need to edit the content and upload your pictures.

With Lydia, you’re given a lot of different styles and designs. The homepage itself has eight different layouts, from ajax gallery, single-page, slide portfolio, to grid blog and magazine. You also get to choose from 11 color schemes, and three types of headers.

The portfolio section is filterable, and you can even display it in nine different styles. Furthermore, the template is also integrated with Mailchimp and Google Maps.

If you prefer a very simple photography portfolio, then Lens is for you. Believe it or not, the template only consists of a full-width image slider and a sidebar that shows a list of your photos. Visitors can go through the list, click on a particular picture, and it’ll be displayed on the slider.

You can, however, add your name and description of yourself as a photographer on the sidebar. There’s also space at the bottom-left corner of the slider where you can put the title and short explanation of your photos.

This template also comes with:

• Icons for social media links and email address
• A responsive design

Lens is perfect for those who want to showcase their photos without having to manage a complex site. Plus, it doesn’t cost a dime to download it.

11. Free Photography Responsive Website Template by Themezy

Themezy also has a responsive template for a photography website. The design is straightforward, and the color shades give off a romantic feel, making it perfect for a wedding or couples photography portfolio.

There are five premade pages — About, Portfolio, Resume, Blog, and Contacts that you can freely customize. It has a header image slider where you can display your best work as well.

For easy navigation, there’s a sticky navbar, a “back to top” button, and calls to action. It even has a CSS hover animation that brings some dynamics to the template.

The rest of its features are:

Clearly, this template is free for you to use. Plus, I think it’s a great deal looking at how much you can do with it. Definitely worth the try.

12. Photographer Portfolio Responsive Website Template

This template is an example of a comprehensive photography website. It comes with multiple pages — Home, About, Service, Works, Blog, and Contact, which you can customize. There’s also a header image slider that you can use to display your best photos.

There are around 10 ready-made sections, such as the About section, Skills, and Experiences with a skill bar, Services, Price, Blog, and more. The fixed left sidebar is where you add a profile picture and links to your social media accounts.

The Contact section also supports a contact form and map so that clients can reach you easily.

Additional features of this template are:

• Filterable portfolio section
• Hamburger navigation menu

• Adaptive to any screen size

This template costs $72 for one site, which is quite pricey, especially for those who are just starting out. If you have the budget, feel free to use it. But if you don’t, there are other affordable options on this list.

14. Elit — One-Page CC Photography Website Template

Another single-page HTML photography website template that you can use is Elit. It has a dark, smooth, and organized design. There’s also a sticky navigation bar on the left where you can add social media icons linking to your accounts.

The template is user-friendly and engaging as well due to the scrolling animations. Visitors would want to stay and scroll through your content.

Other than that, the layout is also mobile-friendly. You don’t have to worry about having a messy site when people access it on different devices.

The rest of Elit’s selling points are:

To get the regular license of this template, you must pay for $19. Nevertheless, the license will only last for a year.

How to create a photography website for a low-cost

If you don’t have a big budget or any technical skills whatsoever, you can still build and launch a photography website at a cheap price. There’s also no complicated user interface.

Yup, it’s by using the Zyro Website Builder.

Now let me guide you through the process:

1. Click the Join Zyro button, sign up with your email, and then pick one of its plans.
2. Scroll down and hover on the Photography template, and select Start Building.
3. Customize and design your portfolio — edit texts, upload images, add elements, and change colors.
4. Preview the changes.
5. Press Publish website, enter a domain name and click Continue to launch your portfolio.

My verdict

For beginners, you can choose templates from website builders, and they are easy to customize. My personal favorite would be Zyro with its Photography template. It’s the most affordable, quick to set up, and you’re given various features, plus creative freedom.

If you’re familiar with web development and have coding skills, then the Juno HTML template is worth your money. The different demos and rich customization options bring you limitless possibilities.
